Labour Movement U Care Fund

To help lower-income workers Upturn the Downturn, the Labour Movement launched the U Care fund to collectively raise funds. The funds will provide relief to lower-income union members and their families to help ease their living expenses.  This might take the form of transport and utility vouchers, and education-related vouchers for children as in previous years. The Labour Movement is also working towards putting aside funds for retrenched workers who might not be compensated due to layoffs and company closures.  So do your part to help!

A Labour Movement initiative to help:
- retrenched union members
- lower income union members
- children of lower income union members
- elderly Singaporeans

The U Care Fund is an initiative by the Labour Movement to provide financial relief to lower income union members during this downturn. We target to raise S$20 million by May 2009.

Here's what some members say:

Mr Amit Nagpal, Manager - International Sales
"In trying and difficult times, it feels heartening to have a shoulder to lean on, to have that warm feeling of having someone watch over you, someone who will rush in to save you from tripping over. NTUC Membership is exactly like that shoulder in today's tough times. I feel happy, safe and cared for by NTUC's various initiatives that make me feel like they are actually thinking about helping their members and not just trying to wring out money. Thank you NTUC, I am Gratified..."

Ms Dorin Zhu, Customer Service
"NTUC Membership means, More savings, more rebates, more fun, more kindness, nothing lesser but more good things to go with NTUC Membership card in my bag. It's a must card to have if we need to save more."

Ms Emily Quek Ghim LengTeacher
"
At a time when my parents were struggling with raising a family of 5 kids post 1986 recession, it was my mother's NTUC Membership that allowed me to apply & secure scholarships for me to complete my secondary & pre-university education. Though the scholarship amounts were not alot (a couple of hundred each year), they certainly helped us alot. Without which, I may not have been able to further my education, & today, raise the standard of living for my family. I now 're t urn to society' by regularly contributing to Bursary & Scholarships Funds. I hope to be able to help others who were in similar situations to mine. And pray that no child should be deprived of an opportunity to further his or her education."

Ms Joanne D. Wee, Academic Associate
"NTUC Membership means smart living to me. I spent on what I need to and get rewarded by means of points and rebates. Many times, the special offers means more savings for me. On the recreational front, I get to enjoy the same fun and benefits at a lower cost. It all means more savings for me and knowing that there is someone there with our interest at heart."

Mr Adrian Ng, Marketing Manager - Asia
"NTUC has been doing well for the past 2 years and have given back to Singaporean like giving benefits back to its members and the general public like keeping prices at NTUC Fairprice competitve in a downturn. This I believe is a great act of humanity and upholding great degree of social responsibility - giving back to the society."

Loh En En, Manager
“NTUC membership means 'N'ot 'T'o worry, we 'U'ndestand your problems and we 'C'are.”
